Hong Kong
ok, i have some posts to catch up on, but very hard to find internet when we've been on the go so much lately! i will catch up soon, hopefully.
anyway, flew to hong kong yesterday .... which is actually a very big deal for me because i've always wanted to come here since i did a report on it for mr. adams' world history class in the 10th grade! i wanted to come before the handover in 1997, but am happy to finally be here now! and let's just say it's everything i wanted it to be and more! you know how sometimes you look in the dessert case and pick the most beautiful, delicious yummy looking thing and just want to devour it in one bite and have it be the most perfect thing ever? that's how i feel about hong kong! it has totally exceeded my expectations -- such an international city!
still mega-british influence, as they drive on the wrong side of the street, have double-decker busses, and say things like "lift" for elevator, etc. it's quite impressive and i only wish we had more time! the shopping is amazing, with everything available you could ever want. this is def. asia's NYC!
the first transit ad i saw was for cheese doodles (yay!) and the second was for marc jacobs so i knew this would be my kind of place. even the 7-11s are celebrating the hello kitty b-day with pins, instead of magnets! they commemorate each country's official flower, so i have macau's lotus and the USA's rose. and lo and behold the 7-11 even had hello kitty cheesy poofs!
it's pouring down rain again, so it' makes it hard to shop and walk around today, but i'll be back for one more day when we return from china on the 27th. later today we head to shenzhen via ferry, which is a part of china right across the border from HK. i guess it takes 3 hours to cross the border since we are entering communist country and they make you wait in lines and such ... even thought we already have our visas! anyway ..... we'll be studying for a few days there (three i think) before coming back to HK for a day.
then we'll depart HK for Shanghai, where we'll be until July 2. i hope to update more later. oh yea, i might consider postponing the blog until amy ashton starts reading it! i really do love all the comments from you guys, but it makes me sad to see "0 comments" ..... so see what you can do about filling them up!!!!
peace out ......
